This is Card Patterns sketch challenge for this week and I loved it - so I had to play. I searched my stash for just the right papers to use and the Hero Arts stamp went with it perfectly. Lots of fun putting this one together!

Spring

This is the card I created for the current CAS challenge on Outlawz. It called for layering at least 2 patterned papers while keeping it clean and simple. I chose this design to show off the two different but similar pattern prints and added another as background for my "live" stamp. The butterflies were stamped on paper in a matching tone to which I added the pearls to make them pop. I love the soft contrast and the earthy colors.

Fur Baby

The current CAS challenge on Outlawz was to use an animal or animal print in your design. I decided to use a cute little scottie dog that I stamped and cut out. I then layered and punched some background papers for a little color and pop-dotted my little Scottie on and gave him a little leash for an added touch. And there you go - how clean and simple can you get?! Thanks for looking ~

A is for ART

The Scarlet Letter? - well, not exactly. I created this card collage for the Simon Says Stamp & Show challenge " A Red Letter Day".
My red letter just happens to be "A". To me it stands for ART. To my way of thinking, any day spent doing something creative that you love (aka Art) makes it a significant and special day! Thanks for looking!

I wanted to use my new die cut window from Memory Box, so I used some pop dots to elevate it over a pretty Christmas tree picture I found on the internnet. I added stickles and some Martha Stewart glitter eyelash and I think it really made it sparkle.

Spooky Fun

This started out as just layering digi images and adding text. Then I decided to layer it on some more background paper and I embellished it with a bat and a border punch. At that point, I loved the look of it and it made a great card, but why leave well enough alone? ...I decided to kick it up a notch by playing with some image editing colors and adding a few more bats. It's a hybrid mess, but I had fun creating it!

This wonderful etching (from1870) is from Land of Nod Studios. Deborah shared this treasure from her own collection. The image spoke to me and I just had to put it on a card. Love it!

This is the card I created for the Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge.
Anything goes, so I used a beautiful digi stamp printed on a transperancy and layered on backround paper by K and Company.

Challenge me Orange

The Twinkle Twinkle color of the week is Orange.
I was inspired to do a
journal page using torn pieces of craft paper, Dried Marigold Distress Ink, and one of my favorite sentiments from Wordsworth Stamps. This is the final color in the Summer of Color Challenge and I'm really sorry to see it end. It's been so much fun!

The Color Purple

The Summer of Color challenge this week is purple. I distressed the background with - what else - distress ink before stamping the ink bottle and pen. I cut out a second pen image to place over the original and used some pop-ups to elevate & give dimension. Alcohol ink in Wild Plum was used for the spilled ink and for the final touch - some purple jewels for my fancy pen.

can you guess? - RED. This week's bonus challenge was to add something winged. This popped into my head instantly and I busily started coloring butterflies with my copic markers and cutting them all out. Then I looked through my stamps to find the perfect "Madame" and here she is......

This is a beautiful digi stamp I found on Crafts & Me. It's by Sara Burrier and I knew I had to have it the moment I saw it. I colored with copics, cut it out and mounted to collaged background papers.

Tammy over at Daisy Yellow is hosting a summer kick in the pants for your creative pleasures. It's the index-card-a-day (*ICAD) challenge. All you have to do is whip out a little piece of art daily on an index card. You can paint, journal, doodle, collage, sketch, write, paste, stamp, ink and glue - it's up to you - anything goes! Turns out that the everyday index card is the perfect size canvas.

Here's my "start". Starting is always the hardest part for me. I used some distress ink for the background and added collage papers and letters and threw in a stamp or two and called it finished. Thanks Tammy for getting us going! Summer Fun! (see the link in the side bar)

This is my entry for the Stampotique Designer Challenge 28 using newsprint or old book pages. I stamped everything out on newspaper

and added some distress color ink. Fast and easy!

Changes

Changes in form and dress form is the challenge on Altered Alice this month. I took it to the extreme on this card. It has a lot of changes going on. I found some great Alice in Wonderland clip art and added my favorite stamped dress form and dressed it up with some die cuts from The Girls Paperie. The sentiment is also from Alice ..."It would be so nice if something made sense for a change". I went with the theme of everything changing and nothing ever really making sense! I even printed out the cheshire cat on a transperancy so he could be my cat in the moon.

Announcing Ms. (Spykee) January. This is my entry for the turquoise and orange Stampotique Designer Challenge. Love the colors together and as you can see I didn't hold back! The background papers are embossed and distressed and I tilted Spykee's head ever so slightly when I glued her down. She's got attitude!

The Great Sadness

I have been taking some classes online in drawing and journaling and this is my first attempt at actually sketching my subject and painting in my new Moleskine Journal. It was so hard for me to take that leap and mess up a perfectly beautiful journal with pencil and paint, but I think the first step is always the hardest. Now that I see I CAN do it, I don't want to stop! I encourage all to let yourself play in a journal. Self expression is sacred.... PLAY and enjoy~

Inspired by video Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand, the July Smeared and Smudged Rock-n- Rolla challenge was to create a piece of art after viewing all the eye candy that the video had to offer...and believe me, there is plenty! I did this card collage using different design elements that jumped out to me.

This is one of my new Sweet Pea Stamps. I colored with copics and layed it on background paper covered with purple netting. The frame is made with a pattern using my "Slice" machine. I then accented with a few sticker gemstones and a flower - for more power... I just love this line of stamps!
